So the last time I blogged, I was anxious about whether or not I would be able to get a picture taken with the great Hugh Jackman! I DID. I was the first one waiting for him outside the theater on Friday October 16. By the time he arrived, the crowd had grown substantially and he was getting clobbered by other fans. I was a bit upset, as I was the first one there (and then two other women arrived, and we waited together for an hour or so before others started to show up, but I’ll get to that later). Well, as he was about to enter the stage door, I said “Please Mr. Jackman, just one picture” so he got right next to me and I snapped a picture of us. Since I had to take it myself and quickly, it wasn’t the best of pictures. I was nervous so I’m not smiling. But it was clear, in focus, and I didn’t cut any part of him or me out of the pic. So it was a success! Then I saw him the next day on Saturday afternoon and snapped a few good shots of him, and saw him again after the play on Saturday evening and he signed my playbill. I love Hugh Jackman. I love the fact that he takes time for his fans to take pictures with them, to sign autographs, etc. He’s such a gentelman. And in person, he is AMAZING. So tall, and just beautiful! sigh. I hope he will do more Broadway shows in the future, because I would love to see him perform again. He puts his all into it and gave such an amazing performance! Oh, before I forget. So the other two women. One was Pam, and she came all the way from England to see Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig perform. She’s a HUGE fan, and saw 4 performances of A Steady Rain that weekend. She was there only for the play, and she got pictures with both Jackman and Craig. Both the women were very friendly and good company to have while waiting for Hugh!
So far, I have heard back from one law school, and it’s not my top choice. Still waiting to hear back from 11 more schools, then I will make a decision where to attend law school based on scholarship money offered and location. Let’s see! I really do want to stay on the east coast though, because I do not want to be so far from home again. When I lived in Indiana, it was too far to drive home, and so I would have to fly, and since flying is expensive, I could only fly home on winter and summer breaks. And to fly with Dobby, my cat, is very difficult on him, the poor furball. So the goal is to not go to law school more than 6 hours away by car, so we can drive home, without the hassle of putting Dobby through airport security, etc. etc. I’m looking forward to starting law school! Not looking forward to the additional debt I will be putting myself in. I already have around $97,000 debt (mostly from graduate school, some undergrad) already. Law school will probably want to make me kill myself lol, but God willing, it will be worth it!
I’ve just been chilling at home and working. It feels weird to be living at home again full-time, especially considering my age, 27 years. I should be independent, with my own chic apartment, but alas, c’est la vie, I suppose. Sucky economy, what can you do, can’t find the job of my dreams. And who would want to hire me for just a few months anyway. A company is investing in the person they hire, so someone who is about to start school again in a couple of months is not a good candidate for an amazing job.
So living at home and having a sucky job has given me a lot of time to daydream about my future, and a lot of time to read and watch TV. Lately, I’ve really been into “Entourage.” Currently I am on season 5 and I LOVE it. I especially love Ari Gold’s character. This will probably sound somehow racist of me to say, but I love seeing Jewish characters on TV shows taking religion lightly when it gets in the way of their career. I don’t know why, I find it amusing. Is that odd? For example, when it’s Yom Kippur, there are several Jewish characters who are more concerned with landing a certain movie for their client, so they are doing things forbidden on their most holiest day, such as using the telephone and doing business, behind their families backs, and not to mention they are swearing a lot while doing it. I thought it was funny. Would I find a Muslim doing that on a holy day funny? Probably not. So I don’t know why I find it so amusing of Jewish characters. Maybe that makes me a bit racist…
So right now I’m reading “The Magicians” by Lev Grossman. I feel like he’s ripped off some ideas from Harry Potter and other fantasy books, but his book is a bit more different that I can’t complain too much about it. It’s not so much a fantasy novel as it is a dark novel about teenage angst that takes place in a fantasy setting. It’s interesting so far, but definitely not for younger audiences. Too many mature themes!
So I guess that’s all for now! Happy New Year! Hope it’s a good one for all :)
Congrats on successfully getting your picture taken with Hugh. I was there too, but didn’t manage to get close enough. Plus, I was too stunned by his beauty that I forgot to act promptly. LOL…
But all in all, I share your feelings for him. Love him much.
27 and starting law school in a few months.. Instead of daydreaming about your future, why don’t you start working on the novel you wanted to ‘write and publish before you were 30′? (By the way, why are you reading ‘The Magicians’? Argh, I would never read that! But back to the topic…) Let’s see what you can write about:
Cats, Middle-East, Turkiyeh, Pakistan, Iran, Hugh Jackman, fashion, movies, (Johnny Depp?), Harry Potter, TV, human rights….
So, how about a Pakistani guy who is obsessed with movies and TV shows and wants to be as skilled & successful as Hugh Jackman? He tries to go to the USA (Hollywood, here I come!) but he’s deported back to Pakistan. He then tries to go to Europe (to meet Mr. Jackman himself!) through Iran and Turkiyeh. Now, here’s when the real story begins.. While, he’s a roaming around those old ruins near Ankara, he meets a mysterious cat (that cat can speak like humans!) who takes him to ‘another’ world (think: Hogwarts). The cat & her people believe that ‘he’ is their savior who can save them from the wrath of ‘the Great Sultan’!
Wait.. Did that make any sense? o_O
Dana, aww, hopefully next time! It’s impossible not to be stunned by his presence !
Anonymous, why don’t you stop hiding behind anonymity, and just reveal yourself. What are you so afraid of? And fyi, I did start writing my novel, but it’s not about something one might think I’d write about… It won’t be done for a while, though.
Btw, I remember everyone I meet. so stop hiding behind “anonymous” and just tell me who you are… I’m sure I remember you, despite what you think.
Hey there!! long time..
